In 2018, my wife and I bought a very bland 70s single story ranch in Portland, Oregon. Over the next 5 years, we gradually made it our own. We replaced windows and doors, added skylights, renovated the kitchen, converted the garage into living space, added a new bathroom and much more. The entire exterior of the home was refinished with new siding and paint. We also completely overhauled the yard by adding hard-scaped paths, new planting areas outlined by steel edging, specimen plantings, new concrete accents, cedar fencing and a cedar cladded modern shed. The design is completely ours and we enlisted the help of a general contractor for the garage renovation and a carpenter for the shed. We DIY’d all of the remaining labor.
So what do you do when you renovate a home these days? You take photos, put them on the internet and call yourself a designer. We’re proud of this little PNW ranch - enjoy the photos and hopefully you can find some inspiration from our hard work.
